Dr. Chris Hoolihan

Dr. Hoolihan and his wife Shana (pictured with him) purchased Pacific Beach Veterinary Clinic on May 29, 2009. Dr. Hoolihan is a 1997 graduate of the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed an Internship in Small Animal Medicine, Surgery and Emergency and Critical Care at Southpaws Veterinary Referral Center in Virginia in 1998. He worked for years in veterinary emergency hospitals and specialty critical care hospitals before starting a Residency in Cardiology in 2006 in Los Angeles. Though he received 5 months of intensive training, he was unable to complete his residency certification due to health issues with his mentor. Dr. Hoolihan went on from there to work in all areas of San Diego County and Orange County as a Relief Veterinarian until finally deciding to buy his own practice in 2009. Read more  ...

Dr. Benita Keiss

Dr. Keiss has been a part of Pacific Beach Veterinary clinic for over 30 years! She began her career in veterinary medicine here as a veterinary technician in 1977. After falling in love with the idea of providing compassionate and loving care to people’s companions, Dr. Keiss pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. From there she proceeded to do a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery internship at Texas A & M from 1986-1987.

Dr. Michelle Braunstein

Dr. Michelle Braunstein is originally from Springfield, VA.   She completed her undergraduate degree in business at Virginia Tech.  She initially started working in the veterinary field as a veterinary assistant back in 2009.   Dr. Braunstein graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (located in the Caribbean) in 2015 with highest honors.  She went through her clinical rotations at the Ohio State University.  After veterinary school, she completed a small animal rotating internship at the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Virginia.  During her internship, she received extensive training in emergency medicine, and shadowed various specialty fields such as cardiology, oncology, internal medicine, surgery, neurology and dermatology.   After completion of her internship she made the decision to move her life to the west coast. She has since been a full time general practice veterinarian for cats and dogs. Read more...
